Helen A. Harrison is an art historian, curator, journalist and author. The recently retired director of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton, New York, she is known for her books, essays, reviews and exhibitions devoted to modern American art, and the Art of Murder series of historical mystery novels set in the New York art world. For 28 years she wrote art reviews and feature articles for The New York Times Long Island section, and has been the visual arts commentator for Long Island University’s NPR-affiliated radio station. Her non-fiction books include Hamptons Bohemia: Two Centuries of Artists and Writers on the Beach and monographs on Larry Rivers and Jackson Pollock. She and her husband, the painter Roy Nicholson, live in Sag Harbor, New York.

Fair use for non-profit, educational purposes only | Gail Levin-- Distinguished Professor, Baruch College and Graduate Center of City University of New York-- is acknowledged authority on American artist, Edward Hopper, having produced pioneering research, landmark exhibitions, his catalogue raisonné, and Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography. She has since emphasized women, Jewish, and Asian artists, with books on Aaron Copland, Theresa Bernstein, biographies of Judy Chicago, Lee Krasner, with books on Alice Baber, Sajitha Shankar, and antisemitism in American art forthcoming. Levin has held many grants: Fulbrights to Japan, Mongolia, India, and the Netherlands, the latter two Distinguished Chairs. She occasionally shows her own artwork and publishes fiction. | |

Liza Kirwin is Deputy Director Emerita at the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Art, where she supported the Archives’ programmatic goals and creative initiatives from 1979 until her retirement in 2023. In her long career, Dr. Kirwin established the Archives’ exhibition and publications program to convey the historical value and vibrancy of primary sources. Her most notable books include More than Words (2005, reprinted in 2015), Artists in Their Studios (2007), With Love (2008), and Lists (2010). She earned a BA in art history from Johns Hopkins University, an MLS from Catholic University, and a PhD in American Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park. | | |
